Faye L. Freels, 86, of Lafayette, died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011, in Lafayette.
She was born March 16, 1925 in Ravenscroft, Tennessee to the late Edward and Helen Emery Abston. She married Brus Freels on Oct. 22, 1943. He died March 31, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jess Edward Freels Sr.; 5 brothers, Gene, Johnny, Jack, Gilbert and William Abston; 3 nephews, Bryan, Mick and Stevie Abston and 1 niece, Linda Sue Abston.
Surviving are a sister, Ann Melion (husband: Joseph) of Hammond; 3 grandchildren, Becky Cummings (husband: Dale) of Lafayette, Jess Freels Jr. (wife: Kelly) of Brentwood, Tennessee and Teresa Gregory (husband: Will) of Lafayette; 6 great-grandchildren, Sheldon Gregory, Emily Reif, Mathew Reif, Austin Freels, Justin Freels and Madison Freels and several nieces and nephews.
