"Grandma Burtman Funeral Rites, Saturday, July 23, 1932 from Lester Prairie, MN paper.
Attained the age of 87 years, 8 months and 9 days. Came to This Community in 1863.

Grandma Gunhild Evenson Burtman, of this village whose death occurred Wednesday evening, July 20th, from old age infirmities, was born November 11th, 1844, in Southern Ordal, Norway. At the age of 11 years, in 1855, she came to the state of Wisconsin with her parents and made her home with them until 1862 when she came to Bergen township. The following year, on April 2, 1863, she was united in marriage to Jonas Burtman. After their marriage they farmed in Bergen township on the present Dittmar farm until 1900 when they retired and purchased a home from Mr. Henemann, in this village, which was their residence until Mrs. Burtman's demise. Mr. and Mrs. Burtman enjoyed 69 years of married bliss and were inseparable companions.
Nine children were born to their union, six sons and three daughters. Three boys and one girl, Henry, Lawrence, Amos and Emily, preceded their mother to the grave. The surviving children are, Mrs. Andrew A. Anderson (Annie), of Bergen township; Mary, at home; Samuel and Elmer, of Wild Rose, No. Dak.; and William, of Dahlton, Sask. Canada. Besides these ?? her sorrowing husband, one brother, Samuel Evenson, of Walker, this state and two sisters Mrs. Carrie Olson, and Mrs. Inger Anderson, both of Madison Wis., and 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren survive her, besides many more distant relatives and a large number of friends.
The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon from the house followed with service at the Methodist church, with Rev. S. S. Olafsson officiating. Interment was made in the Swedish cemetery in Bergen township. Special music at the services consisted of two vocal solos by Dr. R. R. Sheppard, "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." He was accompanied by Miss Edith Gee at the organ. Andrew A. Anderson, Andrew F. Anderson, Egbert Huser, Ben Gee, N. A. Peterson and H. R. Gerber were pall bearers.
Among those attending from a distance were: her two sons, Samuel and Elmer, of Wild Rose, No. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Evenson and grandchild of Walker, this state; Mrs. Emma Upgreen and daughter, Miss Malinda Burtman, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Amos Burtman, of Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson and daughter, of Montevideo and quite a number of people from Glencoe.
Although Mrs. Burtman suffered all the hardships of the pioneer days of this community and reared a family of nine children, she suffered but little ill health and remained active until almost the very end. Her life's work was done and well done. She passed her 69th wedding day and wearied with life's duties and cares, weary of suffering and waiting, she lay down to rest, "Tired! ah, yes, so tired dear, I shall soundly sleep tonight, With never a dream and never a fear, To wake in the morning light." Mr. Burtman left for Watertown Tuesday where he will make his home for the time being with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Amos Burtman. His daughter, Miss Mary Burtman, is staying at Mrs. Arnold's place in Hutchinson.
