BAXTER -- Elizabeth "Bette" Collette, 82, of Baxter, passed away peacefully in the care of her family on Aug. 12, 2004.
Elizabeth (Powell) Collette was born on Nov. 3, 1921, in Shrewsbury, England. She served in the Royal Air Force during World War II where she met and married her late husband, Lawrence M. Collette. She traveled from England after WWII on the Queen Mary with her infant son, Larry (Hap) Collette, and settled in Baxter in 1947. She and her husband built and operated the Baxter Store until 1974.
Elizabeth is remembered dearly by her son, Larry (Hap) Collette and his wife, Dorolese (Dolly) of Brainerd; her four granddaughters, Tammy (Jon) Lewis, Paula (Joel) Budd, Angela (Kent) Hardenbrook, and Amanda (Justin) Wheeler will remember her lovingly. She had seven great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence M. Collette, her daughter, Patricia Danks, her parents, and three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with the Rev. Bill Skarich officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home.
