ROXBORO - Mr. Victor William "Billy" Poole, age 74, of 213 Edgar Street, Roxboro, N.C., died Thursday morning, February 22, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Poole was a native of Person County, son of the late Thomas Lennie and Pattie Wilson Poole, and husband of 50 years to Peggy Walker Poole. He was retired from North Carolina Department of Corrections with 30 years of service, and he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was an avid golfer and a Hall of Fame Bowler.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Karen P. Dawkins, of Hillsborough, and Sharon Poole of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Zachary Dawkins; one brother, Leamon Poole and wife Rosa, of Hurdle Mills; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Mae Whitlow, of Virgilina, Va., Mrs. Mary Knott, of Roxboro, and Mrs. Jean Cheesman, of Glendale, Calif.; a host of nieces and nephews; and beloved family pet Lucky.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazeline Poole, Estelle Schumam and Blanche Wilson.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 24, 2007, at 1 p.m., at Grace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ross Thompson. Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Holder, Donnie Hubbard, Ronald Poole, Charles Whitlow, Wayne Wilson and Woody Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Hawkins, Mark Roberson, Timmy Roberson, Donald Stone and Glenn Wilson.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 313 Church St., Roxboro, N.C. 27573.
