Mrs. Elva Murphy, 62, of Stockport Route 1 was dead on arrival at the office of Dr. A.A. Coulson in McConnelsville at 6 p.m. Thursday, the victim of an apparent heart attack. Her daughter, Mrs. Marie Miller, of Columbus, who was visiting with her mother, was driving her to the doctor’s office when she suffered the fatal attack.

She was born in West Virginia on Feb. 6, 1898, the daughter of Marion and Emma Harris Beach. Her husband, Riley Murphy, died in 1950. She was a member of the Tabor Church of Christ. Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Faye Dudley, Mrs. Shirley Cruse and Mrs. Rosemary Storey, all of Columbus, Mrs. Myrtle Weyrauch of Dayton, Mrs. Pearl McGrew and Mrs. Nina Ring of Stockport and Miss Paula Murphy of the home; three sons, William, Robert and Virgil, all of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. William Barker of Zanesville Route 6; three brothers, Eber Beach of 326 Adams street, Zanesville, Fred Beach of East Fultonham and William Beach of St. Angelo, Texas, and 17 grandchildren. The body was removed to the Miller Funeral home, McConnelsville.

Memorial presented and maintained in conjunction with Murphy Nation, a multi-generational family history gateway dedicated to celebrating, documenting, preserving and providing increased awareness and access for the Murphy family pioneers of Morgan County, Ohio and their descendants and families.
