Mrs. Bastiaan (Lydia) Groeneweg, 84 years old, passed away at a Sioux Falls Hospital on Feb. 3rd, where she has been hospitalized since surgery last week.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5th, 1:30 p. m. , at the Porter Funeral Home with Rev. J. Van Zweden officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Groeneweg, the former Lydia VanDen Bosch, was born on Dec. 11, 1890 in Harrison, So. Dak.
She married Bastiaan Groeneweg on Feb. 16, 1909 in Rock Valley. Mr. Groeneweg proceeded her in death on June 20th, 1959. The couple farmed in the Rock Valley area all of their married life.
Survivors include 5 sons, Leonard, John, Simon, Walter and Albert, all of Rock Valley; 4 daughters, Mrs. Henry (Anna) Van Ginkel of Rock Valley, Mrs. Dick (Rena) DeVries of Orange City, la, Mrs. Clarence (Lyda) Terpstra of Hawarden, Iowa, and Mrs. John (Pauline) Bauman of Rock Valley; one sister, Mrs. Barney Bajema, Rock Valley; two half brothers, Tom and John V and en Bosch of Rock Valley; two stepbrothers, Harry and Jake Abma; two half sisters, Mrs. Ed Silvis and Mrs. Henry De Wit; 44 grandchildren, 52 great grand children; 5 great-great grand children.
She was proceeded in death by her husband and one son, Paul who passed away Nov. 13,1934. Services were under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.
