Lyda Terpstra, 68, of Hawarden, died Thursday, April 14, 1994, at the Hawarden Community Hospital.
Services were Saturday, April 16, at the Community Reformed Church in Hawarden with the Rev. David Teilinghuisen officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Visitation was Friday, with the family present after 7 p.m., and a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Terpstra, the former Lyda Groeneweg, was born July 3, 1925, in Rock Valley, the daughter of Bastiaan and Lydia (Vanden Bosch) Groeneweg.
She married Clarence Terpstra February 19, 1947, in Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Hawarden.
Mrs. Terpstra was a charter member of the Community Reformed Church where she was a member of the Reformed Church Women Society, Willing Workers and Bible Study.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives, Edward and Beth of Westfield, Duane and Leah of Hawarden, and Randall and Linda of Hawarden; three daughters and their husbands, Sharon Peters and Terry of Indianola, Marlys Thompson and Dennis of El Paso, TX, and Connie Voegeli and Kendall of Indianola; 14 grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, John Groeneweg and Marian, Simon Groeneweg and Judy, Walt Groeneweg and Alta, and Albert Groeneweg and Joanna, all of Rock Valley; and two sisters, Rena De Vries of LeMars and Pat Bauman and her husband, John, of Rock Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Leonard; and a sister, Anna Van Ginkel.
