In Robert's history of Montgomery County (1904), page 109: "The second son of John and Frances Van Der Sluys, Jacob, born in 1731 married Anna Francis. Jacob took title by patent recorded in Philadelphia, in patent book A, Volume II, page 189, to a tract of land upon the west bank of the Perkiomen, on the road from Shannonville (now Audubon) to Phoenixville. This land is now a part of the Gumbes estate. Jacob Vanderslice was a school trustee in 1768 and for many years afterwards of Providence Township, then Philadelphia, now Montgomery County. He died in 1793, leaving four children John, Catherine, Debbie and Thomas".

Vanderslice and Allied Families also lists these four children with Debbie married to a John. However, the only one with documented descendants is Thomas.

Administrative document 17175 in Montgomery County Archives list Thomas Vanderslice and William Thomas as administrators and that he lived in Lower Providence. An index states that he died in Pottsgrove, but he was living in Lower Providence.

Jacob's father was Johannes VANDER SLUYSE.

In the Vanderslice and Allied Family book pages 27-28. "John, third son of Raynier and Anna Vander-Sluyse,) settled in Worcester twp and at one time was school trustee. His wife Frances ____, and their children were Rinehart, a mason of Providence, who was grandfather of James, who owned a farm below Phoenixville, near Perkiomen junction; Susanna, who married Martin Kessler of Limerick; Ann who married a Van Reed, of Berks county; Mary; John and Jacob".

He bought a tract of land from John Ruloff Vanderwerf on the Skippack Creek, Worcester Township. The deed was dated May 13, 1726. Deed Book F, 2, page 356, Philadelphia.

He settled in Worcester Township, Montgomery County and was a school teacher or trustee at one time

He has a will in Philadelphia dated April 12, 1742, probated May 6, 1742 Book F, page 296

Jacob's grandfather was Reynier Van der Sluys who arrived in Philadelphia around 1700 from Harlingen, North Friesland, Holland. He and his son Adrien were made citizens on September 29, 1709. He has a will dated July 1, 1712 recorded in Philadelphia, Book C, page 350.

His children were Arnold (Adrien), Henry, Anthony (also settled in Montgomery, Johannes, Elencha, Anna
