James Emmanuel Abell of Knifley Road, Columbia, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010. He was 88. He was the son of the late Joseph Clarence and Mary Elizabeth Abell. He was a retired farmer, USPS rural letter carrier for 32 years and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a veteran and served in Germany in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bessie Abell; 10 children and their spouses, James Roger and Wanda Abell of Columbia, Jessie Garland and Linda Abell of Campbellsville, David Joseph and Angie Abell of Knifley, Stanley Eugene Abell and companion Danna Simpson of Liberty, Robert Emmanuel and Kay Abell of Liberty, Paul Wimsatt and Cathy Abell of Bowling Green, Mary Diann and David Conquest of New York, Janis Louise Turner of Campbellsville, Abbie Catherine and Donald Eugene Rose of Colorado, and Sallie Marie and Freddie Marple of Knifley; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Thomas Abell and Joseph Clarence Abell Jr., both of Ohio; and two sisters, Alene Wolford of Mt. Washington and Elizabeth Jane Strohmeier of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Marshall Abell; and two grandchildren, James Marshall Abell and Mary Catherine Rose. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clementsville with Father Clark officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Roger Abell, Jessie Garland Abell, David Joseph Abell, Stanley Eugene Abell, Robert Emmanuel Abell and Paul Wimsatt Abell.
