W.C. "Cliff" Thoma, 77, died Thursday night at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was retired from the Department of Corrections, and owned and operated Thomas Village near Clito. He was a member of Ogeechee Lodge 213 F&AM and of Clito Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lois C. Thomas, Statesboro; one son, W. Cliff Thomas III, Douglas; one daughter, Margit T. Hendley, Statesboro; two sisters, Jewell Thomas, Augusta, and Pearl Reynolds, Oxnard, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dudley Penton officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
