She was born December 12, 1925, in Beaumont, Texas, and lived in Beaumont most of her life.
In March 1997, she moved to Georgetown, Texas. Jeri graduated from Lamar University and then from Texas Women's University in 1946 with a degree in Business. Following graduation she held positions as secretary to the Personnel Manager of Sun Oil Company in Beaumont and later to the Assistant Personnel Manager of Shell Chemical Company in Pasadena, Texas. After earning a teaching certificate, she taught high school in Port Neches and in Beaumont for approximately 18 years. For several years she was an instructor in the Business Dept. at Lamar University. She earned her certification in counseling, and held the position of Parent-Staff Coordinator with Project Search in Silsbee, Texas. Later she became a counselor for three of the Catholic schools in Beaumont, visiting each school on a weekly basis.
Even as a young woman she was active in church and community projects, combining these commitments with her devotion to home and family. Jeri also gave from her heart her love for her husband, children, and friends. She enjoyed life and its gifts and shared that enthusiasm with those whose lives she touched. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown.
Jeri is survived by two children; Stuart Hutto and Christy Hutto Weed, also a son-in-law, Alvie Weed; a grandson, Jason Ayres and his wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Maya.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, with Dr. Michael A. Roberts officiating. She will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
