Missouri Isabelle "Belle" Cline was the daughter of Taylor Montgomery Cline and Charlotte Jenkins. She was brought to Illinois by her parents in 1860. When she was nine, her parents moved to Missouri in a covered wagon drawn by oxen. The Cline family moved frequently and were known to have lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, and Oklahoma.

Missouri Belle married Henry Jasper Hamner, Jr. in Hannibal Missouri on July 22, 1880. The couple moved to Atlas, Illinois sometime after the birth of their first child. They were the parents of Henry Taylor Montgomery Hamner, Rosetta E. Hamner, Charles Everett Hamner and Edna Lucinda Hamner. There were also two stillborn children.

Missouri Belle was less than five feet tall and kept her hair pulled back in a knot on the back of her head. She always kept jelly, pie and other "goodies" on the table covered with a cloth. A coffee grinder in the kitchen filled the room with the smell of fresh ground coffee. Vegetables and canned food were kept in a cave outside.

After her husband's death, she made her home with her daughter, Edna Browning, who lived on a farm between Atlas and Louisiana. Later, Stark's Nursery purchased the farm and they moved to another farm near Atlas on the road to Rockport. She died at her daughter's home. Funeral services were held in the Atlas Christian Church where she had been a member for several years.
