Robert Lee Dodd, 90, of Swannanoa, died yesterday in a Burke County Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Dodd was a member of the Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church and a native of Madison County. He was formerly employed by Beacon Manufacturing Co. and was a retired farmer.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Fred Allen of Spruce Pine, Mrs. Carlos Waldroup of Weaverville, Mrs. Fred Wyatt of Asheville, Mrs. Garfield Riddle of West Asheville, Mrs. Lorena Craine of Clinton S.C., and Miss Della Dodd of Swannanoa; two sons, Roy and Columbus Dodd, both of Swannanoa; one sister, Mrs. Elzie Lovin of Asheville RFD 2; 2 brothers, Welzie of Weaverville RFD 2 and Jesse Dodd of Hot Springs; 47 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. in West Funeral Home Chapel in Weaverville. The Rev. Milton Hollifield will officiate and burial will be in Radford Cemetery in Madison County. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The body will remain at West Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 7 until 9 p.m.
