Hazel Billings Dixon, widow of Charlie J. Dixon, age 92, of Galax, died in Galax, Saturday, July 19, 2008. Mrs. Dixon was born January 29, 1916 in Alleghany County, NC. Her parents were William Ellis and Rosa Ennis Truitt Billings. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles A. & Sheila Dixon, Knoxville, TN, Major, (Retired), U. S. Army, Griggs W. O. and Patricia Dixon of Woodlawn, VA, daughters & sons-in-law, Sally and Paul Rakes, Woodlawn, Mary & Benny Martin, Galax, Betty & James Tilley, Galax and Nancy Montgomery-Salcido, Fries, VA, one sister, Stella Sobolewski, Suitland, MD, special friends, Pauline Isom and Annette & Ellis Leonard, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 21, 2008, 7:00 PM, at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with burial to follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. Officiating ministers are the Reverends Ron Hill, Ted Bartlett and Bill Dillon. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, prior to the funeral service, Monday, at the Funeral Home.
