Served in the US Army in Germany in WWII. Was part of Patton's honor guard while Patton was laying in state. Served as a Southern Baptist Minister for 27 years. Burl was much loved and respected by those he pastored. He worked in the So Baptist Sports, starting a basketball league and a softball league He loved God, his family and his country. He in turn was loved by many. He had a puckish sense of humor, that at times bordered on child-like humor. He loved his cats and mowing his yard. He was proud of his yard and like to keep it neat and pretty. He will be missed. But, I know he is in heaven, mowing God's lawns with his cats sitting beside him on the riding mower.
