John Wade Taylor, 83 years of age and a resident of Ogden since 1863, died last evening at 7 p.m. at his home, 323 Twenty-second street, after an illness of more than two years. He was first taken sick when he fell and injured his back, having been confined to his bed since. He was born in Northumberland, England on Dec. 17, 1834 and came to Utah with ox teams in 1863, having become a convert to the Mormon faith. He settled in the Third ecclesiastical ward and had since that time made that section of the city his home. In his young days he was active in the plumbing business and also in the lime making business. For years he was a school trustee, serving without pay and he was also a street supervisor for a long time. He had charge of the poor fund of the Third ward and looked after the work in connection with that fund. As a church worker he was active holding the position of high priest. In 1886 to 1888 he served a mission in England. The deceased is survived by a widow, two children, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
