77-Year Old Resident Dies. Passes Away February 1 after Three Weeks Illness.
Katherine Louise Koch (nee Kemper), was called to eternal rest at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. Wm. Hoppe, 405 East Sixth Street, on Thursday morning, February 1, 1940, at 3:50 a.m., after an illness of three weeks duration.
Mrs. Koch was born near Hermann, Mo., on October 10, 1862, and at the time of her death, attained the age of 77 yrs., 3 months and 21 days. She received her education in the schools of Hermann and lived with her parents until her marriage to Fred John Koch on December 6, 1883.
Following marriage, they settled on a farm near Bay, Mo., until the year 1916 when they retired from farming and moved to Hermann, Mo. Here they resided until the year 1929, at which time, they came to Washington where they made their permanent residence.
Three daughters and one son were born to this marriage, namely, Mrs. W.W.Meyer, Bay, Mo.; Mrs. Caroling Lindquist, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs.Wm. Hoppe, Washington, Mo.; and Mr. Ben W.Koch, St. Louis, Mo.; all of whom survive her departure.
The deceased possessed a generous and pleasant disposition which made her beloved not only by her home circle, but by all to whom she was known. She acquired the acquaintanceship of many friends and associates, who will forever cherish the memory of the friendship. Mrs. Koch attended the St. Peter’s Evangelical Church.

Former Hermann and Bay Resident enters into Rest
Mrs. Katherine Koch, widow of the late Fritz Koch of Bay and Hermann and who was a former sheriff of Gasconade County, passed away Wednesday morning at her home in Washington, Mo., aged 78 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Wm. Hoppe, Jr. of Washington, Mrs. Caroling Lindquist of Chicago and Mrs. W.W.Meyer of Bay, one son, Ben Koch of St. Louis and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. Peter’s Ev. Church in Washington, and interment was made in the church cemetery.
