On 15 Sept 1867, he married Mary Jane Worick. They had three children, William, Laura, and George. They later divorced and he married Mary Schuman.
Philip became a minister and served churches in Pierre, Rosebud, and Dallas, South Dakota.
He spent his remaining years in Cedarville IL until his death at 85 years.
