"Nancy A. Ross was born in Carroll County, Tennessee, December 8, 1834. When about ten years of age she moved with her parents to Illinois, and from there to Iowa, where they lived till 1847, when they moved to Missouri, locating near Mound City.
When eighteen years of age, she was united in marriage to George W. McKee. To them ten children were born, nine girls and one boy. Four of the girls have preceded her to the world beyond. The husband and father died December 28, 1910. Five daughters and the son mourn the loss of a good christian mother. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of the church known as the Reorganised Church of Jesus Christ, or Latter Day Saints.
She died at the home of her son at Burlington, Colorado, July 26, 1917, aged 83 years, 5 months and 18 days. The body was shipped to Tarkio that she might be laid beside her husband.
The funeral was conducted at Center Grove church, Sunday, July 29, at 10 a.m., by Rev. J. Jay Oakely. Interment in Center Grove cemetery."
