From The Mound City News-Friday, Aug. 28, 1903:

"The angel of death entered the home of Judge Jacob Wehrli last Saturday morning, Aug. 22, 1903, and beckoning to the good wife and mother carried her soul into the spirit world. Mrs. Wehrli had been a sufferer for nearly two years, being confined to the bed the greater part of the past twelve months.

Frances Porter Ross was born in Holt county, Missouri, Aug. 13, 1854. She was reared and educated in Holt county, and on March 29, 1877, was joined in holy matrimony with Jacob Wehrli. To them were born five sons and five daughters. One daughter and two sons died in childhood; seven with the husband are left to mourn the death of a faithful companion and loving mother. Deceased also leaves four brothers and four sisters. One brother and two sisters were present at the funeral, the others living too far distant to attend.

Mrs. Wehrli was converted and united with the church known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in her early life and has since enjoyed the consciousness of her acceptance with the savior of mankind.

The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. by Rev. C.J. WArner at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Mound City where scores of sympathizing persons gathered to pay the last tribute to a departed friend and neighbor. The death of our loved ones is not an absolute loss of them to us. Not only do they live in our memories, but the influence of their lives remains with us. Death cannot destroy a mother's prayer, counsel, entreaty, sympathy and love. Mrs. Wehrli will be missed in the community, in church circles, and most of all in the home.

The body was laid to rest in the Mound City cemetery. The pall bearers were old neighbors, J. Dunkelberger, A.S. Snell, W.G. Andes, George Meyer, Ora Morse, Godfrey Marti. The relatives in attendance from a distance were George McKee and wife, Thos. Fowler and wife, and Mrs. Lucinda Wolfe, of Tarkio; and Henry Vogel of Richville."
