Stroke Claims Billings Farmer
Death Follows Injury in Fall
Roy Axtell, 56, farmer in Yellowstone county since 1936 who lived five miles east of Billings, died in a local hospital at 1p.m. Friday of a stroke resulting from a brain concussion incurred when he fell and hit his head on a mower at his farm last Friday. He had been in the hospital since last Saturday morning.
He was born in Carleton, Neb., on Sept. 11, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Axtell. When he was 17 years old, his family moved to Montana, where he later owned a horse ranch near Judith Gap. On Dec. 2, 1913, he married Anna Cichon at Glasgow and in 1936 they came to Yellowstone county.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Leroy, who lives at home, and Private First Class William Axtell, with the army at Camp McCoy, Wis.; two daughters, Mary, who lives at home, and Mrs. Rienhold Kober, east of Billings; one brother, Archie, of Los Angeles, Cal., and one grandson.
The body is at the Smith funeral home.
