He was born in Amboy, Indiana in the home next door to his residence on January 26, 1943, the son of Earl and Katherine Walters Sutton. Larry married Sandy Bowland in New Tazwell, Tennessee, on December 5, 1963, and she survives.
Larry graduated from Clay Township High School in 1961 and was a mechanic and was service manager for 25 years at Hawkins Ford/Southworth Ford.
He was service manager for Graham Ford in Converse for 20 years, retiring December of 2008.
Larry was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser and sang for nine and one-half years with Messenger of Truth Gospel Group. He loved working on cars and vacationing in the Smokey Mountains. Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sandy, are his sons, Jeffrey (Mindy) Sutton, Quincy, Illinois and Gregory (Linda) Sutton, Amboy; grandchildren, Adia Sutton, Lyric Sutton and Luke Sutton; and a step-brother, Bob Gibson, Converse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joan Oden and Marjorie Bates.
A service celebrating the life of Larry E. Sutton will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May, 1, 2011 in the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, Indiana with Pastor Terry Bisher officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, Indiana.
