LODI, TX -- Funeral services were held at 10
o'clock Wednesday morning for Edgar James
Bobbitt, who died Monday July 5 as a result of
injuries sustained in the explosion of the
Fonda well. Rev. Townes Wyndham, pastor of
the Methodist church in Lodi, officiated. He
was assisted by Rev. L. H. Mathewson, pastor
of the First Methodist Church of Linden.

Mr. Bobbitt was born April 30, 1885, and has
spent most of his life in the Lodi community.
He was interred at the Old Foundry Cemetery
in Lodi.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Oscar Bobbitt.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Sellers
Bobbitt, two sons, Alton Bobbitt of Amarillo
and Thorne Bobbitt of Marshall; two
daughters, Charles Leona Bobbitt and Mary
Kathryn Bobbitt, both of Lodi; two sisters,
Mrs. T. W. Jordon of Texarkana and Mrs. C. A.
Dennis of Linden; two brothers, Will Bobbitt
and Vernon Bobbitt, both of Linden; and one
uncle, P. D. Pyland of Marshall. All of these
relatives were present at the funeral.
