J. D. Allison, 89, of Cowpens, SC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on April 5, 2011.

He was the husband of the late Jeanette Quinn Allison and son of the late Andrew Allison and Ethel Bailey Allison.

Mr. Allison was a self-employed auto mechanic, a U. S. Army veteran and member of Central Baptist Church in Cowpens.

Surviving are three sons, Jimmy David Allison, John Dean Allison and James Vernon Allison, all of Gaffney; three stepdaughters, Kim Crow Driscoll (Marty), Kathy Crow Oglesby (Charles), all of Cowpens and Kristy Crow Hall (Dennis) of Boiling Springs, SC; two sisters, Vera Moss (Earl) of Kings Mountain, NC and Connie McCraw (Garrison) of Gaffney; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Allison and Wade Allison; two brothers, Paul Allison and Lugene Allison; and two sisters, Frances Martin and Lucille Teague.

Jay (Pa) enjoyed life and his family. In earlier years, he and his wife enjoyed riding motorcycles and bowling with family and friends. Until his sight began to fail him, one of his greatest pleasures was playing golf. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his late wife and being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Graveside services, with military rites, will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens in Cowpens, SC officiated by his pastor and friend, Rev. Joseph McGaha and Mr. Todd Parker.
