Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with a rosary/vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
Rose was born Feb. 20, 1928, at Linton, to Frank and Mary (Wingerter) Kelsch. She married John A. Baumstarck on Oct. 26, 1948, and they were blessed with 12 children. Rose was a woman of unshakable faith in God, and the power of prayer to change the most challenging times into life's greatest joys. She made prayer the center of her life. She worked tirelessly to raise a family with ample amounts of energy and resourcefulness. She was brilliant with improvising. If she needed something she didn't have, she made do with what she had. But one thing remained constant — her great sense of humor and undying commitment to those things she treasured, God, family, music and life.
She is survived by six daughters and five sons-in-law, Leona (Dennis) Hempler, Lynnwood, Wash., Shirley (Mark) Voss, Bismarck, Linda (Jamie) Carmichael, West Fargo, Julie (Jeff) Rhoades, Ft. Collins, Colo., Rose (Greg) Baranyk, Newberry, Fla., and Mary Baumstarck, Bismarck; six sons and three daughters-in-law, John (Jean), Vancouver, Wash., Adam (Joan) Gainesville, Fla., Leo, Redmond, Wash., Al, Fargo, Rich, Fargo, and Hilary (Peggy), Bellingham, Wash.; two brothers, Alex and Pius Kelsch, both of Bismarck; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lori Becker and Phyllis Rauser.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and six brothers and sisters
