Nonie Burns was the 5th of 11 children born to James Francis Morrison and Margaret Murphy Morrison.

Death Comes To Mrs. Nona Burns, 55

Mrs. Nona Burns, 55, of [ ] North [ ] street, died at the St. Joseph hospital at [ ] today, after an extended illness.

She was born November 8, 1886, in Melrose, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Morrison. She married Robert Burns. He preceded her in death in 1935.

Mrs. Burns was a member of St. Mary’s parish of the Catholic church, and was a member of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary society.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. John Burns of Davenport, and Cecil Burns of Milwaukee; three brothers, James Morrison of Albia, William Morrison of [ ], Wash., and John Morrison of Minneapolis; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Blubaugh, Mrs. Al Bergquist, Mrs. Oscar Olson, and Mrs. Hobart Burton, all of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Ed McDonald of Albia.

The body will be taken from the Vaughn funeral chapel to the home this evening. Members of the parish will meet at the house at 8 p.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Father Burns will celebrate a solemn requiem mass. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery.
