Mrs. Irene Brown Hester, 99, of Cleburne, formerly of Loraine, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005, in a Cleburne Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services were held Saturday in the Loraine Cemetery with Mr. Royce Clay officiating, under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hester was born to Elmo and Eugenia Kannady Brown in Loraine on June 30, 1906. After graduation from Loraine High School, she graduated from Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University, in 1926. Her father started and was president of the Loraine Bank, where she worked. She married Doyle Hester in Loraine on March 31, 1946 She and Doyle farmed cotton in Loraine for many years They later moved to Fort Worth in 1984. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1985 She was a member of the Church of Christ and a world traveler.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, her sister, Viola Brown Coon and brother, Fred Brown.
