Born in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Daughter of Timothy Kenrick (26 Jun 1807-23 Feb 1885) and Maria Paget (21 Feb 1808-5 May 1876).

She became the 2nd wife of Joseph Chamberlain, and was the cousin of his first wife Harriet Kenrick.

Joseph and Florence Chamberlain had four children: Arthur Neville Chamberlain (18 March 1869 - 9 November 1940), future British Prime Minister; Florence Ida (1870-1943); Caroline Hilda (1871-1967) and Ethel (1873-1905).

She died giving birth to their infant son, who is buried with her.
