Edith Bruns was born January, 1891 in Charlotte, Ill. Never marrying, she lived her entire life in Charlotte. Her father died in 1908. In 1918, her sister Emma was married. Until 1924, she lived with her mother, Kate (Schipper) Bruns, her sisters, (Grace, Irene, and Ester Amelia), her brother (John G) and her uncle (John Schipper). In 1924, brother John married and moved down the road. Edith, her mother, the remaining sisters, and her uncle continued to farm. In 1934, her mother Kate died and Grace, Ester Amelia, Irene and she again continued to maintain a family farm. By 1940, Ester Amelia had died, but the three remaining sisters carried on, with the help of Henry Schipper, age 52. Henry most probably was either an uncle or a cousin on the Schipper side. By 1940, her only remaining family was Grace, Emma and Irene. In 1960, Edith died in Charlotte, leaving three sisters, and one nephew.
