James P. Troxel, 70, a Flora resident for many years, died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, following a year’s illness. He had been in the hospital for three months. Born in Clinton County, July 19, 1875, he was the son of Peter and Amanda (Heilman) Troxel. He was married to Aura Felthoff, who survives. Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jackson and Mrs. Hazel Beard, both of Ockley; a brother, Charles of Texas and a sister, Mrs. Martha Shoemaker of Frankfort. Funeral rites were conducted Monday afternoon at the Flora church of the Brethren with the Rev. Ray Zook officiating. Burial was in Maple Lawn cemetery. Leiter funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
