Aged 57 Years, 50 Days.
Veteran Indiana Volunteers

Son of Amanda Blackwell and John Corder.

Married to Eliza Deckard on 19 Feb 1865 in Lawrence Co, IN.

Suggested edit: In Memoriam
Comrade Ab Corder died at his home in Guthrie, Jan. 29th aged 57 years, four months and twenty five days.

He was taken seriously ill with pneumonia and after a struggle of one week with the disease he passed into that slumber from which no friend on earth could awaken him.

He was born near Springville in this county, September 4th, 1841.

At the age of twenty he enlisted in the army as a member of Co D. Fiftieth Ind. Vol.

When the war was over he returned to his home to enjoy the liberty for which he had fought.

On the 19th of February 1866 Miss Deckard became his wife, to them were born five children, four of whom are living.

Comrade Corder was a good --ever man. Honest integrity was his motto. He did not belong to the church. He was content to live a quiet harmless life. His religion consisted in obeying the law providing for his family and doing unto others as he would have others do unto him. As a comrade he has answered the last roll call on earth -- has pitched his tent on fames eternal camping ground. Thus one by one the old soldiers are passing over.

He leaves an afflicted wife and two daughters that are married. Among a host of relatives he leaves one brother to mourn.

The funeral took place at his home and was attended by many sorrowing friends.

It was touching to hear the children and grandchildren saying "Good by Pa" The comfort and the protection of the home is gone. Home can never be again what it has been. Our eternal home will never be darkened by death, and the family circle will never be broken there.

--let us prepare that home.

Comrade Corder was laid to rest in the Kinser Cemetery.
