He was born July 25th, 1884, in Germany and came to the United States with his parents when seven years old. He attended schools and grew to manhood on his fathers farm in Nebraska, attending St. Mary's Catholic School at Humphrey. Later he moved, with his parents, to a farm near Parkston, SD.
In 1912, he came to the Fairmount community and the following year married Anna Differding at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They farmed near Fairmount until 1940, when they purchased a farm near Campbell, where he had since resided.
Surviving, besides his wife are: five daughters, ; three sons, He also leaves two sisters, ., and 21 grandchildren.
