Mattie Joyce Bennett, 85, of Columbus, Ind., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Bennett worked at Arvin Meritor years ago. She was a member of Calvary Nazarene Church in Columbus.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Shane Rocker officiating. Calling will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made through the funeral home to the Gideon Society or American Heart Association.
Mrs. Bennett was born July 16, 1922 in Knob Lick, Ky., the daughter of Henry and Bertha Hurt Pedigo. She married Cordis C. Bennett on Jan. 5, 1937 in Kentucky.
Survivors include children, Paul (Melba) Bennett of Taylorsville, Ind., Joann Moon of Taylorsville, David (Pam) Bennett of Cedar Lake, Ind., Shirley Anderson of Columbus, Ind. and Connie (Rick) Hadley of Columbus, Ind.; a sister, Alma Pike of Columbus, Ind.; a brother, Clyde Pedigo of Columbus, Ind.; grandchildren, Becky (Tommy) England, Pam (Jim) Hilderbrand, Lisa (Tim) Chandler, Marcella (Mark) Rarey, Glen Earl Moon, Jennifer (Orville) Merideth, Johnny Bennett, Melissa (Tom) Miller, Lori Anderson, Clifton Anderson, Christina (Matt)Baker and Melissa (Jeremiah) Walton; great-grandchildren, Aaron (Jenifer) England, Amanda England, Ashley (Brandon) Slate, Adam Chandler, Marika Rarey, Meena Miller, Issabell Miller, Lindsey Anderson, McKinley Walton, Jacob Walton and Jeremiah Walton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Oct. 11, 1971; and an infant daughter, Joy Bennett.
