Burt Henderson Mullins, 84, of Kingsport, passed away at his home December 12, 2009.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Battle of the Bulge. Burt worked at Holston Defense Corporation before retiring with 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nancy Mullins; wife, Margaret Irene (Green) Mullins; sister, Ruby Mullins Eidson; brothers Oda, Wilson, Wiley, Joe, Ance, Herman, Ben, and Emmit "Dud" Mullins; sisters Elsie Elkins, Arlena Reece, and Roxie Reece; and beloved grandson John David Gray.
He is survived by his wife, Eva, of Kingsport; three daughters, Nancy Gray, Vicky Christian, and Sabra Mullins; son-in-law Doug Christian whom he loved like a son; three grandchildren, Bo Gray (wife Joyce), Ryan Christian, and Whitney Christian; and great grandchildren Claire and Cole Gray.
Very special thanks to Rusty Reed who gave compassionate care and love beyond expectations. To the nurses of Amedisys, Eleanor, Sandra, and Annette, your kindness, understanding, and "care with dignity" to our whole family, but especially our father, is appreciated beyond words.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, December 14, from 5-7 p.m. at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Ray Mullins officiating. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 10 a.m. at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
