Services for L. T. Burkhead, 51, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Henderson with the Rev. Jerry Smith, pastor, and the Rev. Harold Smotherman officiating. Burial will be in the Chester County Memory Gardens with Morgan Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the funeral home.
Mr. Burkhead died Thursday afternoon at his home near Henderson after an illness of four months. He was born in Dyer County, son of the late Lester and Fannie Cupples Burkhead. They moved to Chester County in 1923. He was married to Melvina Ridley in 1941, and they made their home in Chester County since that time.
He was a farmer and a member of the Interdenominational Church in Corinth, Miss.
Surviving other than his widow are three sons, Douglas Burkhead, Harry Michael Burkhead and Tommy K. Burkhead, all of Henderson; three daughters, Mrs. Deloris Holmes, Miss Dorothy Ann Burkhead and Mrs. Helen Marie Burkhead, all of Henderson; three brothers, Charles Burkhead of Montezuma, Willie Earl (Doc) Burkhead and Jack Burkhead, both of Henderson; four sisters, Mrs. L. E. Garner of Montezuma, Mrs. Ida Hopper, Mrs. Luther Kilzer and Mrs. Tressy Mae Duncan, all of Henderson.
