PENNINGTON GAP, Va. — Doc Flinders of Right Hand Poor Valley, Pennington Gap, Va. was born on Monday, Feb. 17, 1936 in Vanceburg, Ky. and passed away Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2008) at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tenn. at the age of 72 years.

Doc was a member of the Pennington Gap Free Pentecostal Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Jay and Maxie Johnson Flinders; two brothers, Alvie Flinders and Jay Flinders; one sister, Christine Moore; brother-in-law, Ben Potter and nephew, Elvin Potter.

Doc is survived by four sons, Tim Flinders of Pennington Gap, Va., Tony Flinders and wife, Patricia of Pennington Gap, Va., Randy Flinders of Jonesville, Va. and Thomas Flinders of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Kim Simpson and husband, Lewis of Pennington Gap, Va. and Rachel Petrey and husband, Ronnie of Pennington Gap, Va., 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Clinton Flinders and wife, Dana of South Lebanon, Ohio; one sister, Juanita Flinders of Eureka, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday in the sanctuary chapel of Province Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Witt officiating.

Visitation will be anytime at the residence.

Burial will follow at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, Va.
