Herman Carstensen

Funeral services were held for Herman Carstensen, 79, of Wyoming on Wednesday morning, Oct 30 at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming,. Burial was at the Wyoming Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann of the Oxford Junction United Methodist Church officiated.
Mr. Carstensen died Oct. 27 at St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Pallbearers were Donald and Dennis Carstensen, Gorden and Gary Thomsen, Richard Bahnsen and Thomas Paulsen. Honorary pallbearers were August Paulsen and Paul Thomas.
Mr. Carstensen was born April 3, 1906 near Wyoming, the son of August and Catherine Petersen Carstensen. He attended rural schools near Wyoming. He farmed with his parents as a young man.
On Nov 25, 1941, he was married to Esther Brodersen at Davenport. They farmed west of Wyoming until 1950, when they moved to town. They then returned to the farm in 1959. He retired in 1970, following the death of his wife. He continued to live on the farm with his son.
Survivors include his son, Daryl of Wyoming; one daughter, Mrs. Randall (Nancy) Kuehl of Springville; one grandson, Nathan Kuehl of Springville; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Paulsen, Mrs. Elmer (Hertha) Bahnsen and Mrs. Dora Dusanek, all of Wyoming, and Mrs. Max (Minna) Thomsen of Olin.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.
