Francesco Spanevello, patriarch of the Italian colony, died in his ninetieth year. He was buried in the St. James Catholic cemetery, April 29th, Father O'Loughlin officiating. Michael Spanevello of Knob View (sic) a namesake, but no relation, died of pneumonia May 5, leaving a wife and four small children. His funeral was held by Father O'Loughlin in the Catholic church, this city, the afternoon of the next day. A requiem mass for both was said on Monday morning. Last Saturday at 6:30 a.m., the anniversary memorial mass for Giobata Arsnicar (sic) was said. Besides the above there has been one other death in the colony since coming to our county—that of an infant. Our splendid climate will soon restore the colony's health after their experience in malarial Arkansas.
