THOMAS REX SORENSON DIES

The death occurred on Wednesday of Thomas Rex Sorenson, the 18 year old son of Josie Memmott and James A. Sorenson, death being due to heart and kidney disease. He is survived by his parents and three brothers; Boyd, Leland and Darrel and four sisters; Louise, Edith, Nellie and Beth.

He was born in Scipio, July 3, 1913 and after finishing the District School spent two years as a student at the MHS where he was a member of both the band and orchestra, playing the cornet. He registered this fall but was able to attend only a short time. He never gave up hopes of completing the four year course, however. He was ambitious and of a happy and cheerful nature. He was known to have considerable mechanical ability, taking a delight in repairing time pieces, automobile engines, etc.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at one o'clock in the ward chapel under the direction of Bishop J. Wells Robins and were very largely attended. The choir sang: "Wanted on the Other Side". The invocation was by C.A. Memmott. Mrs. Lorraine Monroe sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". The speakers were V.A. Hanseen, Lars Jensen and Bert L. Robins. Mrs. Bernice Melville sang 'Lay My Head Beneath the Rose". Then the choir sang "Shall We Meet" and the benediction was pronounced by Frank C. Hatch. The flower girls were Mildred Peterson, Eva Huff, Flora Bement, Myrle Howlett, Bertha Howlett and Otella Lawson. Much sympathy is being expressed for the family in the loss of this fine young son. He though so much of his friends and appreciated their visits to his sick room. Interment was in the city cemetery.

Relatives and friends from out of town who came to attend the services were: Martin Sorenson of Gunnison; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sorenson and Chris Larson of Centerfield; Mrs. H.S. Ivie, Mrs. Chas. Skougaard, Mrs. Abe Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sorenson, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mahlstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pace of Richfield. From Nephi: Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Memmott, Mrs. Carlos Boswell, Alton Memmott, Cleon Memmott, Ronald Gowers, Spencer Bowers and Daniel Nielson. From Kanosh: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Howlett, Misses Bertha and Myrl Howlett, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bement, Miss Flora Bement and Mr. and Mrs. Flynn Hutchinson. From Holden: Mrs. Jones and Lenora Jones; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carling of Fillmore; Floyd Clark and Daniel Knox of Delta.
