Funeral services for William Gerald Blakeman, 73, Beulah, were held on Friday, 10:00 a.m., November 6 at the Wesleyan Church in Sundance with Rev. Paul Redfield officiating.
Interment was in the Beulah Cemetery at Beulah, WY under the direction of the Fidler-Roberts Northeastern Wyoming Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
Blakeman died November 3 at a nursing home in Belle Fourche, SD after a lengthy illness.
Gerald Blakeman was born on March 31, 1914 at Sundance, WY, the son of William Henry and Edna Irene (Holmes) Blakeman. He grew up in the Sundance area and graduated from Sundance High School; after which he worked for several ranchers. He was married to the former Lucy Margaret Singleton on January 11, 1936.
He and his brother Jerry Merle purchased and operated the Westside Grocery Store for three years. He became employed with the Homestake Mining Company in the timber department in June of 1938 and retired in April 1977. He was an avid hunter and fisherman until his failing health. He was an active member of the Sundance Wesleyan Church in all activities of the church and held several positions of authority in his years of attendance.
Survivors include his wife Margaret of Beulah, WY; two sons: William Lee of Powell, WY; Roger Dee and daughter-in-law Cheri of Sheridan, WY; three grandsons: Richard, Beryl and Russell; and 2 great granddaughters Jodi Lee and Kayla Julayne Blakeman; three sisters; Anna Mae McWeth, Loveland , CO, Edna Frances MacPherson, Palouse, WA, and Daisy Helen Dennis, Hulett; three brothers: Jerry Merle Blakeman, Sheridan, Frank Warren Blakeman, Sundance and Donald Gene Blakeman, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and numerous nieces and nephews.
