William "Bill" Blakeman died at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, MT on Sunday, September 21, 1997 as a result of cancer.
Services were held at Powell, WY at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 1997, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Kapalka officiating.
Bill Blakeman was born on June 2, 1940 at Spearfish, SD, the son of William Gerald and Lucy Margaret (Singleton) Blakeman. He grew up in Beulah, WY and attended grade school there and graduated from Sundance High School in 1958.
He attended and graduated from the Aviation School at Minden, Nevada. He served in the U.S. Naval Aviation Service from 1959-1963; two years in Phoenix, ZA and he was on Okinawa for two years. He worked for Kolb Aviation at Spearfish with slurry bombers for several years and for 21 years managed the airport at Powell, wehre he also flew slurry bombers.
He was a member of the Elks Club 2303 and the Masonic Lodge at Powell.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Margaret Blakeman, Beulah, WY; a brother, Roger and his wife, Sheri Blakeman, Hulett, WY; three nephews: Richard Blakeman, Tampa, FL, Beryl Blakeman, Sheridan, WY, Russell Blakeman, Denver, CO; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Blakeman on November 3, 1987.
