Died—Feb 22nd 1891 at 2 o'clock p.m., Al Strain, of Monrovia, by being run over by a freight train at Mulberry Arkansas. He was 22 years old in Feb; and was, at the time of his death, employed in the service of the Missouri Bridge Company, of Leavenworth. He came to Monrovia with his mother some seven or eight years ago, and had grown to manhood here, and had won the respect and esteem of all who knew him. The news of his sudden, unexpected death was a severe blow to his mother, and can only be realized by a mother who has lost a dear and loved child from the family circle. The death of this loved son leaves a vacant space in the mothers heart that can never be filled by any earthly tie. His brothers and sister will miss the loved association of Al in their midst and there will be a vacant place in their hearts that no other can fill. His many friends in and around Monrovia will miss the kind companionship of his presence and many a heart be made sad at the recollection of his untimely death. The deceased was brought home by Leo Wagner, his companion, who had been working with him for the past five years. The funeral services occured in the M. E. Church at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Treacise, who preached a very touching and impressive sermon, after which the remains were interred in the Monrovia cemetery.

— A Telegram was received early yesterday morning announcing the death of Al. Strine, who was killed at Mulberry, Ark., by a freight train. Strine's mother lives at Monrovia in this county and is prostrated by the news of her son's death. Strine was an exemplary young man, 22 years old, and was the sole support of his mother and four little brothers and sisters. The news of his death will be received with sorrow in this city, where he was well known, having been in the employ of Henry Wagner, the bridge contractor, for some time. Leo Wagner will accompany the remains to Monrovia, passing through Atchison today. He will be buried at Effingham.
