Mrs. Nuzum Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Martha Nuzum, aged 61, widow of the late Dr. W. F. Nuzum of this city, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John E. Roche, 1130 Birch street, this morning. Mrs. Nuzum had been in poor health for the past few years and confined to her room for much of the time. Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Roche, Mrs. John Niles Jr. of Route 4, Baraboo, and Mrs. H. Stark, of Mauston. She leaves a sister, Miss Hattie Killian of Madison. Funeral arrangements had not been completed this morning. Published in The Baraboo News-Republic, Friday Oct. 10, 1947, page 4.

Last Rites of Mrs. Nuzum
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Nuzum were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the Scheible funeral home with the Rev. Theo F. Matthews officiating. Clinton Platt and Mrs. W.W. Deppe sang with Mrs. William Morse at the organ. Pallbearers were Carl Effinger, Frederick Effinger, Fred Effinger, Walter Jenks, Richard Ziemke and Louise Ziemke. Burial was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Those from out-of-town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stark, Mauston, Miss Hattie Killian, Madison, Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Wright, Madison, Richard and Louis Ziemke, Sauk City. Published in The Baraboo News-Republic, Tuesday Oct. 14, 1947, page 4.

Martha was a daughter of August Kilian and Amelia Mielke.

She was enumerated with her parents at Baraboo in the 1900 US Census, in the 1905 Wisconsin State Census, and in the 1910 US Census.

Martha married Walter Franklin NUZUM on June 23, 1910 in Sauk Co., Wisconsin.

Martha and Walter had three daughters. The first was born at Spokane, Washington, and the last two were born in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

They were all enumerated at Baraboo in the 1920 US Census.

A widow, Martha was enumerated at Baraboo in the 1930 and 1940 US Censuses.

Gravesite Details

Martha was buried on the opposite side of the NUZUM marker from the parents of her husband and next to the grave of her husband. Their markers are all located directly south of the large mausoleum that marks the grave of Henry Ringler, of Ringler Br
