C. Merrill Greenland 1926 ~ 2010 C. Merrill Greenland, 83, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Murray, Utah. He was born October 9, 1926 in Highland, Utah, to Clarence and Maud (Miller) Greenland. He attended the Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah, and served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Southern States Mission where he met Florence Poulsen. They were married September 26, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Merrill loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and bore a fervent testimony of the Savior throughout his life. He lived his testimony through his service, especially as a Bishop and as a Jordan River Temple worker for 14 years. He was raised as a farmer and loved gardening. As a Master Gardener he was famous for his generosity in sharing his flowers, canta-loupes and raspberries. He spent 50 years at Mineral Fertilizer Company and greatly enjoyed his association with the farmers and business associates. He was known as "Merrill, the fertilizer man." He is survived by his wife Florence; daughters, Suzanne Francom (Wayne) and Marjorie Janssen (Mark); son, Douglas (Cindy); 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grand-children; and brothers Richard, Leonard and Charles. He was preceded in death by his sisters Helen, Florence, Mildred, Irene and Maxine; and his brothers Joseph and Kenneth. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Heritage Ward chapel, 41 W. 6280 S. (67 Clay Park Drive), Murray, Utah. There will be a viewing Wednesday, May 5 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 S. State, Murray, Utah, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributing to the Perpetual Education Fund in Merrill's name.
