Mrs. J. McWilliams Died on Sunday
Mother of A. B. and W. H. of this City—Funeral Tuesday
Had Been in Poor Health for Some Time
Children Were All with Her at Death.
Mrs. James P. McWilliams died on Sunday evening at 9 'clock at her home seven miles south of this city. She had been in poor health for some time. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from her late home with interment at Harmon.
The maiden name of the deceased was Lydia Ellen McDowell and was born in Beaver township, Pike county, Ohio, November 1, 1840. She came with her parents to Ogle
county, Ill. in 1846. She was united in marriage to James P. McWilliams on September 12, 1861 and they removed to
LaSalle county in 1867. They removed to Rock Falls in 1882
and resided there for four years when they moved to a farm
Mr. McWilliams had purchased south of Harmon. The family
resided there eighteen years removing a few years ago to the Lievan farm in Marion township.
Mrs. McWilliams united with the Broadway Methodist
church in Sterling in 1883. She has always lived a noble
Christian life and was loved and respected by all who knew
her. She was the mother of twelve children, two of which died in infancy and one son at the age of 17 years. She is survived by her husband and nine children. They are A. B. and W. H. McWilliams of Dixon; Mrs. Grant Bennett of Rock Balls; Mrs. G. W. Grothe of Rochelle; Mrs. C. G. Parker and Mrs. G. W. Smith of Harmon; Mrs. Ethel Beebe, John and Carl McWilliams at home.
She also leaves eighteen grand children and one great
grand child. Two sisters also survive her, Mrs. Harvey Scott of Milledgeville, Mrs. Jane Neal of Harmon, and one brother A. B. McDowell of Wadena, Wis. All were present at the time of her death.
