Daughter of Blonset Sanders (1760) & wife Sara Ann Bradford (Bet 1776-84).

She first married Samuel Carpenter (1795 LA - Before 1825 LA) on 23 July 1815 in St. Tammany Parish, LA. They had a son Burl Samuel Carpenter (Jan 1823 St. Tammany Parish LA - 1908 Tangipohoa Parish, LA.)

She was the second wife of Robert Edward Hughes and they married on Saturday, August 20th, 1825 in Washington Parish, LA. From this union came three children:
- Robert Edward Hughes (1826-1900)
- Melinda Ann Hughes HALL(1832-1896)

Robert died first in 1875 in Newton Co., TX. and Charity died four years later in 1879 at the age of 77 years.
