Mary Jeanette "Janet" Guest, 84, Bardstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the University of Louisville Hospital.

She was the former Janet Holbert, a native of Nelson County, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a volunteer for the St. Vincent DePaul Mission Store, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 121, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Effie Price Holbert; two sons, Don Smith and Jerry Smith; a grandson, Donald Smith Jr.; a granddaughter, Francine Smith; five brothers, Harold Holbert, Andrew Holbert, Lebertis Holbert, Joe Holbert and Casper Holbert; and three sisters, Anna Bell O'Hare, Lorene Ritchie, and Emma Jean Newton.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years; three daughters, two sons, 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister of Bardstown.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Ben Brown will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
