"Mrs. Hazard was a Resident of Napoli Many Years. Mrs. Susan R. Hazard, formerly a resident of Napoli, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emily Rowley of Chautauqua, Saturday afternoon. The remains ware brought here Monday and the funeral was attended at Napoli at the Congregational church on Tuesday at 11 o'clock a. m., Rev. G. E. Henshaw officiating. Mrs. Hazard was born at South Kingston, Rhode Island, seventy-six years ago and when twenty years of age was married to Mr. Joseph Hazard of that place. The young couple soon afterward moved to Napoli and settled on a farm near Napoli Corners where they lived together until Mr. Hazard's death several years ago. About ten years ago Mrs. Hazard went to Chautauqua to live and has resided there up to the time of her death. Mrs. Hazard was a lady of culture and refinement and was held in much esteem and respect by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was a consistent member of the Congregational church and was a most enthusiastic worker in various lines of church and Sunday school work.
"She is survived by four sons, ex-sheriff Joseph E. Hazard, of Warren, Ohio, Dr. Theodore Hazard of Iowa City, Ia., William Hazard of Salamanca, and Daniel A. Hazard of this place, and also by a sister, Mrs. Emily Rowley of Chautauqua and two brothers, James Congdon of Napoli and William Congdon of Randolph."
