Mr. Austin operated a grocery store in Salina until he retired in 1948 and moved to Hutchinson. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Salina.
Survivors included his widow, Jennie; a daughter, Mrs. Gay Nothern; two sons, L. 0. Austin and J. B. Austin; four step daughters, Mrs. Pat Nolte, Mrs. Betty King, Merle Eklund and Mrs. LaVerne Robinson; a brother, L. R. Austin; a sister, Miss Irma Austin; six grand children and six great-grandchildren.
