Death of a Veteran
Robert Hall, a farmer and well known resident of Granger, who has resided there since 1860, died at his residence at 1:30 o'clock, May 5th at the advanced age of 82 years.
Mr. Hall was born in Ireland in 1822, where he married and raised four children, two of whom are living and well known in this community--William and Samuel Hall. Mr. Hall came to this country about 1850 and was married in 1858 to Ellen Maloney, who survives him and by whom he had eight children, five of which are living--Mrs. Maggie Spencer of Rochester, Mrs. A. H. Preston, Lincoln Hall, Mrs. A. J. Clark of Michigan and Mrs. A.E. Histed of Rochester. Two children met with violent deaths, a little girl having been burned to death and a son, Robbie Hall, having been drowned in the Genesee river.
Mr. Hall enlisted and served in the Civil war from its begining until it closed.
The funeral was held at the M.E. church, Short Tract, Rev. Mr. Brace officiating, fter which the remains were taken in charge by the G.A.R. Post who marched to the cemetery where they performed the last sad rites.
Mr. Hall was respected by all who knew him and leaves a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his lost.
